What’s The Rage: Beauty Trends that are taking social media by storm

Staying on trend with different skincare and beauty products isn't what’s important; what is important is trying out new products that can help transform your beauty regimen. These trends on social media provide a first-hand view of how people like certain products and how they work for specific skin types. While we have already covered the popular trends of “eating your skincare,” there are many more that have caught the attention of thousands of people.

PDRN Skincare: The Pink Gel Mask That’s Everywhere

Korean beauty is consistently popular for its innovative and exceptional skincare products. The Brand Medicube has been popular lately for its gel-like sheet masks, especially its newer masks made with PDRN. PDRN, to put it simply, is derived from salmon and put into these chic, pink gel face masks and many other products like serums and creams. From Hailey Bieber to many famous influencers, people are loving these super cute pink face masks that help achieve beautiful, glowy skin easily. But what makes PDRN stand out so much?

PDRN masks

According to Vogue Arabia, PDRN is “Otherwise referred to as polydeoxyribonucleotide, this clever ingredient is derived from salmon sperm DNA and is known for its healing and anti-inflammatory properties.” Products containing PDRM help the skin feel more supple and support its long-term health. Healing your skin and keeping it supple and healthy is crucial for maintaining beautiful, natural-looking skin, and using PDRN skincare products is a great Korean beauty product for showing off your skin.

Ear Seeding: Acupuncture But TikTok

Another popular trend on TikTok right now is ear seeding, which is also another Korean beauty trend. What even is ear seeding? According to Healthline, “People use ear seeds to stimulate pressure points in the ear. They’re a type of auriculotherapy, which is acupressure or acupuncture focused on the ear.”  If masking with salmon DNA wasn’t enough, the internet’s next crush is ear seeding. Think of it as acupuncture’s stylish little cousin except in lieu of needles tiny crystals or seeds pressed onto the ear to stimulate pressure points.

Ear seeding

While there isn't much research to back up any benefits or to question the long-term effects, ear seeding has been taking the media by storm as a way to depuff and lymphatic drain the face by using small seeds on a bandage-like sticker to get pressure points on your ear. Famous influencer GlowwithAva created her own brand of ear seeds called “by Ava,” which has specifically gone viral, and has plenty of other skin influencers like Sarahpalmyra and Mireya Rios have made videos using these ear seeds and have discussed how they have helped them daily in their lymphatic drainage routine.  It seems to work for many people on the internet, so maybe it could be a good and harmless way to maintain and de-puff, making it easy to stay snatched like a lymphatic drainage massage.

Arab Perfumes: The Middle Eastern Obsession Redefining Luxury

While these trends of ear seeding and PDRN products like masks have originated in Korea, they have been trending all over the world, from the United States to the Middle East. Specifically in the Middle East, fragrance and perfume culture have been very strong, which has also started more trends all over the media world. Brands from Kayali, Lattafa, to Angham have taken the world by storm with their unique and yummy scents. But what makes these Arab perfumes different from the rest? Firstly, brands like Kayali stand out because they focus on mixing Middle Eastern scents with other globally popular scents, making this brand trendy everywhere. Many Arab perfumes stand out because of their intensity since they are mainly oil-based and have higher concentrations of fragrance. These higher concentrations make the luxurious scents last much longer and smell much stronger than the average alcohol based perfume that every other perfume company sells.

Rhode Skincare: Hailey Bieber’s Brand That Won’t Quit

While the United States tends to take on many trends from around the globe, the biggest trend in the US that has stuck around is Rhode Skincare. Hailley Bieber's Skincare brand features many amazing barrier products for the skin, but specifically, their lip products have stood out to many people. From their popular scents, cute packaging, and celebrity-involved marketing, Hailey Bieber’s brand has been making it big in the US and has spread to other countries. Now that this brand is sold in Sephora, more people are able to use their milky toners, thick moisturizer, cute lip products, and more to help with their skin concerns. This brand was started by a celebrity but has remained popular because everyone loves their products, as they help with skin barrier issues and eczema issues, and have been accepted by the National Eczema Association.

The Wrap Up

Keeping up with the various social media trends in skincare and beauty can seem grueling, so starting off with the new ideas that show benefits on real people is important. From staying snatched with ear seeding, maintaining a skin that glows, smelling luxurious, to having your skin barrier fixed, these popular trends in the media have been spreading all over the world for their benefits. As bizarre as some of these trends seem, there seem to be benefits for people in videos and some throughout research. It is important to stick to what you know with all things beauty, but embracing trends and trying new products can’t hurt; they might even change the game completely for your routine.
